Chapter 60 - Pediatric Anesthesia

Charles J. Coté

The provision of safe anesthesia for pediatric patients depends on a clear understanding of the physiologic, pharmacologic, and psychological differences between children and adults. Special consideration must be given to premature infants, as well as those with congenital malformations. This chapter describes how the unique characteristics of pediatric patients influence the safe conduct of anesthesia.
