Anesthetic Implications

After induction of general anesthesia, the patient is positioned in a modified dorsal lithotomy with Trendelenburg position. The thighs are abducted slightly for vaginal access to manipulate the uterus. A pneumoperitoneum is created with carbon dioxide insufflation. Patency of the anastomosis is assessed with injection of methylene blue dye through the uterine chromopertubator.
